Why Choose a Guild Care Home?

Guild Care a local charity in West Sussex which has been at the heart of the Worthing community and surrounding area since 1933 offering residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly.

The income generated from our care homes is re-invested into our vital life-line community services. Guild Care is a not-for-profit, so every penny raised goes straight back to the people who need it most – those in our care. We offer a wide range of days services to support older people to live well, those living with dementia and their carers, children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs, and provide financial help and advice for more vulnerable people in the community.

At Guild Care, we recognise that every resident is an individual and treat them as such. Residents are supported to live the life they choose, based on individual daily routines and activities. What matters most to us is making sure we make a difference to you or your loved one.

Types of Care

Guild Care’s mission is to deliver innovative and life-changing care services to our local community.

Residential Care

We treat each and every resident as an individual. Before someone moves in we talk to them and their families so that we have a clear and detailed understanding of their needs, hobbies, interests, former careers and favourite foods. We are very proud of the service we provide to residents in all our homes which promotes choice and encourages residents to maintain their independence for as long as possible

Dementia Care

We want to ensure that our residents live well with dementia. Haviland House is devoted to supporting people living with a dementia – from early to later stages. We offer nursing, end of life and palliative care. We have adopted the Dementia Care Matters approach which means that staff and residents, together with visiting relatives, can spend the days together as an extended family. We focus on people’s feelings, their environment, conversation, communication and, go beyond life stories, as much as their personal care needs. At Linfield House we have a smaller suite dedicated to dementia care.

Nursing Care

All our care homes are registered for nursing care. We pick staff that will look after our residents as if they are a member of their own family. Specialist support is available 24 hours a day in every Guild Care home.

Respite Care

We provide respite care breaks at all our care homes and will provide all the care you need in a high quality, safe and friendly environment. Customers can participate in gentle exercise led by a trained support worker and this often results in laughter and friendly banter.

Sheltered Accommodation

We offer independent living at Dolphin Court which is a small, friendly, sheltered housing surrounded by attractive, mature and well-tended gardens in a quiet residential area. Our tenants enjoy the security, peace of mind and the benefit of additional support whilst maintaining their full independence that we offer in this friendly complex. The 31 studio flats are spacious and of a high standard with separate kitchenette and fully-accessible bathrooms.

Below are a few testimonials from our residents and/or their families.

We were impressed by the friendliness and attitude of everyone we met there. We are grateful for all that your staff did for my sister - and, indeed, for us - from the warm welcome from Wendi at reception, to all the nursing and caring staff on the first floor. Well done on creating such a truly caring ethos amongst your staff. Nothing ever seemed to be too much trouble and we always left Caer Gwent confident that my sister was in the best place possible for someone so close to the end of her life.

Sister of resident at Caer Gwent

When I first visited Linfield House, I noticed how calm the home seemed to be. The rooms were bright and airy and the residents occupied. There were lots of places to sit and watch over the park. The staff are patient with her as she cannot move around very well. Health is well taken care of with a nurse always available to have a chat if there are any concerns. Mum seems to enjoy her food and there is often a cup of tea on offer. The home offers every comfort and she has a very comfortable room overlooking the park. The minibus means that she can be taken out for the afternoon to a local garden centre and there are often entertainers booked to encourage the residents to enjoy themselves. Linfield is spotlessly clean and tidy and the staff are always welcoming and ready to chat. I no longer have any worries about Mum's care.

Daughter of resident Linfield House

It's an excellent home. My sister gets wonderful care. The carers are excellent and it's a loving and safe environment. It is scrupulously clean and freshly painted and maintained very well. They do everything they can for the residents.
